The Ask

Uncommon James, the jewelry brand founded by Kristin Cavallari, approached Chipman Design Architecture (CDA) with a challenge: to design a new two-story flagship store on Charleston, South Carolina’s King Street that would elevate the customer experience. The brand sought a space that would not only showcase its beauty, jewelry, and accessory collections but also provide an inviting environment for gatherings and private events. The task included integrating flexible and experiential areas to enhance brand engagement and build loyalty among Uncommon James’ core clientele.

The Task

CDA developed a concept that brought Uncommon James’ vision to life, designing a flagship store that functions as both a retail space and a destination. The design features an integrated private party room with a wet bar and an outdoor patio, creating a versatile setting for events and social gatherings. These spatial offerings allow Uncommon James to expand its brand experience beyond retail, fostering a space where customers can engage more deeply with the brand. The flagship location has been crafted to embody the essence of Uncommon James, establishing it as a unique lifestyle destination.
