The client required a renovation of a two-level retail space with offices above in the historic 1916 Market Square building, ensuring that the new design was fully accessible while preserving its historical essence. The building, a landmark in the National Register of Historic Places, required a sensitive approach to maintain its Italian Renaissance style and historical finishes, like the hardwood flooring. The client aimed for a design that balanced historical preservation with modern functionality, aligning with the Faherty brand's identity.
We accomplished a surgical renovation that integrated a fully accessible entrance and ADA compliant features without altering the building’s historic exterior. Working within the constraints of the historic Market Square building, we successfully maintained significant portions of the original construction, while updating other areas to meet current code standards. Collaborating closely with Faherty's in-house designers, we refined and repaired historical finishes, seamlessly blending them with new, modern materials. The project culminated in Faherty reporting their best opening day ever at this location, with sustained performance success, marking a significant achievement in our ongoing partnership since 2022.
