The Ask

Peet’s Coffee wanted to implement their newly developed prototype, marking the first execution of this refreshed design across their remodel program. With only a conceptual design package to guide the process, the client needed support in selecting commercially rated materials that aligned with the brand’s identity while ensuring feasibility and cost-effectiveness. The goal was to establish a set of design standards that could be used across future remodels, balancing aesthetics with functionality. This required close collaboration with vendors, including millwork and signage providers, lighting consultants, and kitchen specialists, to refine the prototype into a fully realized, buildable space.

The Task

Chipman Design Architecture worked closely with Peet’s to translate the conceptual design into a tangible, high-quality interior. The team curated materials and finishes that modernized the space—introducing a plaster-look wallcovering for texture, warm wood tones, hex mosaic tile, and brass inlays to reflect Peet’s handcrafted approach to coffee. The design was refined to ensure feasibility while maintaining the brand’s elevated, minimalist aesthetic. Through extensive coordination with the client and vendors, the final result delivered a bright, inviting environment that resonates with coffee enthusiasts. The successful execution of this prototype has set the foundation for future remodels in 2025 and beyond.
