Culver Academies commissioned Chipman Design as Architect and Designer for their new 24,000sf state-of-the-art rowing facility, noted by waves of the steel roofline structure reflecting the Lake Maxinkuckee shore upon which it rests.
This White-DeVries Rowing Center features Olympic-standard moving water tanks, programmable to simulate a broad range of open water and lagoon conditions. This allows Culver student athletes to practice year-round regardless of the Midwests’ often inclement weather conditions. Incorporating its own weight and workout rooms, this world-class facility also provides an enhanced stage for the program’s large volume of crew shells and equipment. A second-floor alumni lounge offers a spectacular panorama of the lakefront expanding onto an outdoor deck from which views of the crew races are unmatched. At the main floor’s formal entrance, the Lauridsen Lobby provides an intimate reception lounge complete with a large, flat-screen interactive media center.
