Tesla
National Locations
Tesla’s retail and service environments reflect a different approach to automotive, where the experience is streamlined, product-focused and closely tied to performance. Chipman Design Architecture has supported this evolution across a range of locations, working within both ground-up projects and the adaptation of existing dealership buildings.
Much of the work has involved repositioning former automotive spaces to align with Tesla’s operating model. Instead of starting from scratch, the approach often builds selectively on what’s already there, preserving structure where it performs and introducing targeted updates where needed. In one case, a previously LEED-certified facility was retained largely intact, with modifications carefully considered to avoid disrupting the building’s overall performance.
Technical upgrades are where the work becomes more surgical. Service areas are reconfigured to accommodate electric vehicle systems, and structural adjustments support key display moments within the showroom. These changes are deliberate and focused, allowing the space to function differently without overcomplicating the architecture.
Across these projects, the design avoids unnecessary moves. The emphasis stays on clarity, efficient use of space and a direct relationship between the customer and the product, allowing each environment to feel resolved without feeling overworked.
