Alliant Credit Union engaged Chipman Design Architecture to renovate its workplace environment, rethinking a traditional office layout of enclosed offices and cubicles into a more flexible, modern workplace designed to support a post-pandemic hybrid model. The shift to hoteling workstations and an increased need for conference and collaboration space required a solution that could balance functionality with comfort while supporting evolving workplace expectations.
Chipman Design Architecture led the transformation with a focus on adaptability, planning a layout that supports a range of work styles while improving day-to-day usability. Located on O’Hare International Airport property and owned by United Airlines, the project required close coordination with the Chicago Department of Aviation and a rigorous approval process that included detailed documentation of materials and compliance requirements.
The design introduces a warmer, more inviting environment by layering natural wood tones against the building’s existing stone and concrete structure, complemented by black metal accents and brand-driven colors of navy and green. Biophilic elements and integrated greenery further soften the space and improve the workplace experience, resulting in a flexible, functional office environment that better supports collaboration, comfort and long-term use.
